Herbs may be the ideal way to ease into dealing with your man's symptoms of male menopause. If you have lived with this man for a number of years, it is likely that there are some things you know about him that he doesn't know about himself (and he probably knows some about you as well). Knowing your man's moods, even if he is the most silent of the strong silent types, comes partly from observation and a lot because you care. You can usually tell is he is getting ill before he does, you know that he had to deal with that dimwit at work within five minutes of him getting home, you know that a certain treat or trick will banish his blues. You might have noticed changes in your man's body, mood, or libido and have done a little investigating; and here you are. You've read up on the symptoms, treatment, and care and feeding of an Andropausal (medical term for male menopause) guy.

There are many ways to help your man that don't include invading his space, tricking, or manipulating. Every herb, vitamin, or good food you give to your man will have the aggregate effect of making him healthier, andropause or no. So, if your man has rejected any conversations about menopause, or finds that kind of concept too oogy to contemplate, or if he just isn't ready to deal with all that mess, here's where you start.

His food! If you have not already, it's time to address the amount of fat, fiber, sugar, and starch you serve your man. Serve less to no meat, salt, sugary and fatty foods. Serve more veggies, especially the deep green or cruciferous type. Soy is also very helpful to help excrete excess estrogen. Serve lots of fresh tomatoes, fresh and cooked. One food to avoid, though, is grapefruit, which can prevent the liver from breaking down estrogen. All other fruit is fair game! Something else to make your man smile is that he needs a bit of fat in his diet as it is needed to make testosterone and other hormones.

Here is some good news, in case you didn't know it before. The same herbs that help women with their menopausal symptoms have the very same effect on the men. Toss a few on his vitamin plate and say no more. If your man is soy-phobic, give him 30-50 mgs of isoflavones supplement a day. Increase his vitamin C dose to 1,000 to3; 000.Zinc at 50mg twice a day is fine. Calcium helps to slow down bone mass reduction. No iron supplements, though.

Some herbs that help combat male menopause may also increase his sexual potency just may make your man ready to take them. Gingko biloba, yohimbe, and ginseng are old standbys. If your man has high blood pressure, yohimbe should only be added after consulting with his doctor.

Being sneaky, until your man is willing to talk about his symptoms, will be beneficial to his health and also to your peace of mind. When the day comes when your man wants to talk, just smile, listen, and give him an extra big helping of broccoli!
