Locating Books And Other Support Tools
There are many times in life when it may be necessary to find out all you can about Down Syndrome. Some of these times may be when you are doing a report for school on the condition, or when a new neighbor has Down Syndrome and you want to learn about the condition. You may also need to find out information if your are older than 35 and become pregnant and wish to know what your risk factor is and about what you may be facing if your child does have Down Syndrome.
There are many resources online that you can turn to when trying to locate information about Down Syndrome. Some of these Websites are:

The Mile High Down Syndrome Association can be found at www.mhdsa.org
They have a section for new parents on their site, another one about the diagnosis process, general information about the condition, how to be a self-advocate, a listing of social events and local meetings, and also lots of inspiring stories of those who have been down the road before you. There is a special section for parents who have just received the Prenatal diagnosis of Down Syndrome. This is a Website that is all about receiving education, resources and support when you need it most and ongoing.

Organizations:
The Down Syndrome Educational Trust is a charity that focuses on educating and creating the environment for the development of individuals with Down Syndrome. They have been around since 1979.
The charity is based at the Sarah Duffen Centre in Portsmouth, UK.
They provide advice and information, consultancy services, and early intervention services.
They have been conducting research for more than two decades and have earned international recognition for their work.
There is a listing of their publications, and available training on the Website.
Nevada has a strong Down Syndrome Organization with a Website located at http://www.dsosn.org
There are other Down Syndrome Organizations in Palm Beach county Florida,
The National Down Syndrome Congress (NDSC) is a national advocacy group.
The ACDS hails from Plainview, New York and is celebrating 40 years of serving those with Down Syndrome.
All of these resources are valuable resources. They can also lead you to more local support groups.
