Incontinence And Younger Women
Incontinence is more common than you think; especially in a population that most people do not think suffer from this often embarrassing affliction. It is usually assumed that only older women suffer from incontinence. This is not true. Many younger women also suffer from incontinence. This is sometimes referred to as many women’s little secret, because many women are too embarrassed by the condition to seek help. However, medical researchers have found that incontinence in younger women is much more common than previously thought.
Why are so many younger women affected by incontinence? It appears that part of the answer to this question has to do with pregnancy. Many of these younger women who suffer from incontinence are newly minted mothers who find that their body doesn’t work quite the same way after the baby is born. This is an embarrassing problem for many younger women who are often on the go. Officially, it is known as urinary incontinence. In fact, it is estimated that over 13 million American woman are secretly suffering from the effects of urinary incontinence. And it looks like women are already two times more likely to suffer from some form of incontinence.
Researchers have noted that incontinence is an embarrassing condition that can really have an effect on a woman’s life. It can have a significant impact on the way a women views the quality of her life. It can affect a woman’s perception of her body image, emotional state, and her sexuality. Researchers have found that most women suffer through urinal incontinence needlessly. Many women do not realize that they are suffering through a real life medical problem. Many younger women also do not realize that it is a legitimate medical issue that can be treated.
However, although incontinence is a relatively common medical condition that does not mean that it is a normal medical condition that women have to suffer through. There are many simple solutions that women can take in order to quell the instances of urinary incontinence problems.
One of the easiest ways to quell the effects of incontinence is to simply restrict the consumption of liquid, especially caffeinated liquids. Caffeine is often one of the worse culprits when it comes to urinary incontinence in women. Simply cutting down the amount of caffeine that you consume can make a substantial difference. Another easy way that women can find relief from the problems of incontinence includes getting regular exercise. Kegel exercise can make a great difference by allowing a person to strengthen the muscles that controls the flow of urine. Kegel exercises are easy to do. Kegel exercises can even be done while you are sitting down.
If all else fails, many younger women who suffer from some form of incontinence may be able to find relief through prescription drug therapy. However, prescription drug therapy is most often reserved for serious cases of incontinence that simply do not respond to other less invasive therapies. Most of the time, women who are experiencing less serious forms of urinary incontinence may only need to make a few simple changes in lifestyle to find relief from incontinence.
